Research infrastructure
The IT&C research infrastructure converges in the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași Data Center, designed and implemented to ensure proper reliability, availability and data security for both critical services and research applications.
Our Data Center operates under functional and operational requirements with respect to the TIA-942 standards by the American National Standards Institute, with steps in sight to achieve a Tier III implementation certification.
Multiple redundancies regarding both power train and the cooling infrastructure: a backup generator, redundant chillers, individually climatised high density racks and redundant cooling paths.
The facility has been dimensioned to grant a continuous expansion regarding the operational capacity: ten 30kW RITTAL racks offering a combined 300kW maximum load, with backup batteries capable of sustaining the full load long enough for the 350kW diesel powered generator to kick in.
Considering a 20% operational reserve, the Data Center offers up to half of its capacity for deploying high density, cutting edge infrastructures to support present and future research projects.
